Welcome to Grade 3!
I'm so glad you are visiting our website! Welcome to our class!
Children are my passion. My students become my children forever! I am highly committed to the success of every student and believe in the power of a strong partnership between teachers, students and parents. Questions, concerns and observations are always welcome. I value and respect the voice of every student and every parent and I am dedicated to making education meaningful. My job is to help prepare children for the future and I take that role very seriously.
2018-19 marks my 23rd year of teaching! I have had experience teaching in every grade from kindergarten through eighth grade, and this is my this is my second year teaching grade 3. I am passionate about literacy, and helping make learning meaningful and engaging, so inquiry based learning, and technology will be heavily embedded into our year together.
Personally, I am very blessed. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Brad, for 23 years and we have two daughters. Erin is in college and Leslie is in Grade 9. We also have a dog named Pixie, two cats named Autumn and Bae, and two chinchillas named Dusty and Snowflake. Sometimes it feels like I live in a zoo!
In addition to my Bachelor of Education degree, I completed my Masters of Educational Technology (MET) in May, 2015 from Boise State University. I love to apply what I learned as often as possible, so technology will be an important educational tool in our classroom. I LOVE learning, so I'm hoping to continue my studies, likely in children's mental health.
My hobbies include reading, technology, and I like yoga as well. I collect hats, koala bears, quotes and snowmen. My favourite colours are orange and purple. I LOVE teaching. Kids are the coolest people I know!
I am so excited to be on this journey with you all and I invite you to become an active participant. It truly is going to be a year to remember!
