Welcome to Grade 3!
I'm so glad you are visiting our website, and I am looking forward to getting to know you all!
Children are my passion. My students become my children forever! I am highly committed to the success of every student and believe in the power of a strong partnership between teachers, students and parents. Questions, concerns and observations are always welcome. I value and respect the voice of every student and parent and I am dedicated to making education meaningful. My job is to help prepare children for the future and I take that role very seriously.
2017-18 marks my 22nd year of teaching! I have had experience teaching in every grade from kindergarten through eighth grade, but this is my this is my first year of teaching grade 3. I am passionate about literacy, meaningful, engaging learning experiences, inquiry based learning, and technology, so each will be embedded into our year together.
Personally, I am very blessed. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Brad, for 22 years and we have two daughters. Erin is in college and Leslie is in Grade 8. We also have a dog named Pixie, two cats named Autumn and Bae, two chinchillas named Dusty and Snowflake, and a fish named Flare. Sometimes it feels like I live in a zoo!
In addition to my Bachelor of Education degree, I completed the Masters of Educational Technology (MET) program in May, 2015 from Boise State University. I love to apply what I learned as often as possible, so technology will be an important educational tool in our classroom.
My hobbies include reading and technology, and I like yoga as well. I collect hats, koala bears, quotes and snowmen. My favourite colours are purple and orange. I love learning and I LOVE teaching. Kids are the coolest people I know!
I am so excited to start this journey with you all and I invite you to become an active participant. It truly is going to be a year to remember!
